In May 2006, UTV launched a brand new
competition called How Lo?®
in which viewers bid on an item each week by texting their bid to a
shortcode number. The twist however, is that to win the item the viewer
must bid the lowest unique amount rather than the highest. If
your bid is not the lowest unique bid at the time when you made it, you
will receive a text message back informing you of this and asking you to
bid again. In the first run of the competition which lasted 4 weeks,
prizes such as plasma TV's, concert tickets and games consoles were
given away. The competition later returned in July 2006 for another run,
giving away more plasma TV's, home cinema systems and even a family
holiday to Florida! |
