On Monday 6th April 2009, UTV Live's
much publicised relaunch took place, returning with a brand new set and
shiny new graphics to match. UTV took this opportunity to refresh their
on-screen look and at 9:25am, a brand new set of idents was launched
along with a new breakbumper, new ECP menus and new promo graphics.
All aspects of on-screen presentation
had a uniform blue swirly animation and in the new idents this took the
place of the white background from the previous set. The "It's all about
U" text had been removed from the new batch and instead the UTV web
address, www.u.tv, was promoted in its place. The location where each
ident was filmed appears in the top right corner.
Six idents
were in use initially, featuring scenes filmed in County Louth, Greencastle,
Strangford Lough, County Fermanagh, The Mourne Moutains and Silent
Valley. Some of these scenes were recycled from both the 2008 and 2009
ident sets.
Little over two weeks later, on
Wednesday 22nd April 2009, some more idents were added to the set. On
this date, idents featuring scenes filmed in County Fermanagh, Belfast
and Portaferry in County Down were aired for the first time. The latter
two scenes had been recycled from previous ident sets. The following
day, on Thursday 23rd April 2009, two more idents aired featuring scenes
filmed at Glenariff and Stormont. On Sunday 26th April 2009, two further
idents were spotted featuring the County Antrim coast road and another
scene from County Fermanagh. Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th saw two
final idents featuring Belfast Castle and County Antrim, scenes which again had been
recycled from a previous ident set. This brought the total number of idents to
fifteen.
June 2009 saw a few more additions to UTV's ident set,
starting on Sunday 14th June with one featuring the mouth of the
Upper Bann. Two more idents, both filmed
at
Lough Neagh followed on Tuesday 16th June and on Wednesday 17th
June, a further ident aired bringing the total to nineteen. |
